Karen Pope -- President, Pope Consulting, LLC of Atlanta

Karen Pope has built a strong government relations practice over the past two decades. Pope Consulting's major focus is on members of both political parties in the Georgia General Assembly, state agencies (including vendor lobbying) and local governments.

Some current clients include Advanced Drainage Systems, Atlanta Metro Studios, BYD Coach & Bus, Liberty Tire Recycling and TenCate. Past clients include many major corporations, such as Walmart, Clean Energy Fuels, Republic Services and SouthernLINC Wireless. Pope Consulting has been recognized annually since 2006, and again in the December 2017 issue of James Magazine as one of the "Top Governmental Affairs Firms" (non-law firm: one to two members). In 2003, Pope started her own firm, Pope Consulting, LLC as a contract lobbyist. Prior to that in 2000, she served as Senior Governmental Affairs Representative for Georgia EMC and its family of companies, representing the businesses before the General Assembly. Pope has extensive local government experience in Georgia for almost a decade for BFI Waste System as a Market Development Manager where she secured large waste and recycling contracts with municipal governments.

Pope's community involvement includes extensive work with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. She chaired the Economic Development, Taxes and Tourism Committee of the Chamber's Government Affairs Council for four years and is still an active member. Karen is a current Board Member of Sisters By Choice, a local board dedicated to providing support for low income breast cancer patients and families. Pope's past civic work includes co-chairing the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House's Annual Fundraiser, which supports the entire operating budget of the two Atlanta-area houses. Pope has served on the Georgia Radio Reading Service Board of Directors, the Board of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation as well as four of their local affiliate chapters. Pope is also a graduate of Leadership Cobb, and she has volunteered eight years on the Politics Day Committee for this impressive leadership development program. She is also a member of the prestigious Leadership Georgia Class of 2009. Pope received a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Georgia where she helped restart the Student Government Association and was elected campus-wide. She holds a Masters of Business Administration from Georgia State University with a 4.0 overall GPA.
